Although Jim may be the “newbie” at Pacific Angler, he is
far from new to fishing (or the shop)! While Jim officially joined the team recently,
he’s been a regular customer and friend of the shop since it first opened.
Jim’s fishing journey started young—mooching for springs in Howe Sound with Ted Peck and casting a closed-face spinning rod on the Seymour River. These days, Jim loves fishing all over, from the rivers and lakes of the Cariboo and Kamloops to salmon on Vancouver Island and beach fishing in Campbell River. He’s also chased mahi-mahi in Mexico, big browns in New Zealand, and rainbows on Montana’s Henry’s Fork. If there’s a fish to catch, Jim’s on it!
But Jim doesn’t just live life on the water—he’s also a key part of the team behind the scenes. Jim’s the one making sure our online store is up to date with the latest gear, helping you find exactly what you need, and making sure your shopping experience is top-notch.
For Jim, fishing is about more than just catching fish—it’s about the whole experience: the solitude of nature, great camaraderie with fellow anglers, campfires, good food, and, of course, finishing it all off with a single malt and a Cuban cigar. He’s always refining his skills—particularly in freshwater—and dreaming of new fishing adventures like tackling the Skeena and Dean rivers, fishing Cuba and Christmas Island, and maybe even preparing a 10-course Chinese banquet for 10+ people (yes, really!).
Before joining Pacific Angler, Jim was the “Big Design Daddy-O” at a 300+ person software company, where he honed his skills creating systems and processes. Now, he’s applying that expertise to our ecommerce platform, making sure everything runs smoothly for our customers.
