Though Eric officially joined the team in 2021 as an assistant retail manager, fishing’s been part of his life for as long as he can remember. He was out casting lines at 3 or 4 years old, and by the time he was 11, he was already fly fishing and tying his own flies. That’s over 26 years of fishing—crazy, right? Sometimes he wonders what he’s been doing with his life, but hey, we all know fishing is a way of life.
Fishing is in his blood, thanks to his grandfather and dad, who passed down the love of the water. These days, you’ll find him chasing steelhead, salmon, and trout on the North Shore and Sea to Sky, with a special fondness for the annual salmon and steelhead trips to Vancouver Island rivers—it's a tradition he looks forward to every year.
When it comes to expertise, Eric is all about fly fishing, especially swinging flies for steelhead. But he’s not a purist—he’ll pick up whatever gear gets him on the water and catching fish. Whether it’s centrepin, spinning rods, hand lines, or even smelt nets, he’s game for anything that gets him a tug on the line. He’s also super passionate about fly tying, particularly for steelhead. And when it comes to teaching, there’s nothing he loves more than helping new anglers hook their first fish—seeing that moment is what it's all about.
When he’s not on the water or helping customers, you might catch him sketching fish in his notebook—he’s got an artistic side too!
